Project: Malvern Valley Primary School

Background
A temporary school had been constructed on the school's oval after fire destroyed the main buildings. When the school had been rebuilt, it was time to repair the oval.
Project details
The objective of the project was to construct a quality, safe sports field for use throughout the year. Safety and water conservation were priorities.
Initial works included the clean-up of the site and the removal of all concrete, gravel and debris left over from the temporary school.
The clean site was then laser levelled before the installation of an automatic irrigation system.
Turf coverage was established by cultivating kikuyu stolons into the soil. Kikuyu was chosen as the preferred turf variety for this site due to its hard wearing and drought tolerant characteristics.
Vivesco managed the entire project from the clean-up of the site through to surface preparations and finally the establishment of the kikuyu turf surface.
